Megan Masterson
(President, Malawi Pangaea Project)

Welcome and thank you for participating in the 2011 Pangea Project! I assure
you that this will be as beneficial to you as it is to the many orphans across the ocean.
As a member of the Pangea Project council at Marshfield High School I, have been
able to experience things that not many teenagers have. The road of success and our
future is paved by who we are as kids, and how we can take what we have and mold it
into something terrific. Using our education, our ideas, and our creativity we can put
happiness on to another child’s face. This is what the Pangea Project is all about.

The project is full of students working together and trying their hardest to help new
friends in Malawi, Africa. With this strong bond, we are tenacious and motivated.
When I first heard about Malawi I was in seventh grade, and I was truly touched by Mr.
Ebony’s words I had known the economy in Africa was poor, and my first thought was,
these people must have terrible lives. I was wrong. The children that we have
connected with are some of the happiest people, and this was inspiring to me. A child
with so little, yet continuing to dream cannot help but humble you. A simple item, like a
bracelet or a book can go farther than you could ever imagine.
These kids have not only helped me and my fellow peers realize how fortunate we are, but also have helped us appreciate our lifestyles and
given us a hunger to help others who are less fortunate. Not only have I learned how to help the orphans of Malawi, but I have also learned a
lot about friendship and leadership.  I can’t help but wonder what the council will accomplish and how far the Pangea Project will go in years
to come.  I know now that I would like to continue on in life carrying the same message that I am sharing right now, one of understanding,
kindness, and hope.  When you see the sadness in the eyes of children in areas you never knew existed, helping them seems natural.
Helping  them is what I hope we can do forever.  We may be young, but I believe we are here for a reason. If we can give a child good thoughts for
just one day, or change one person’s life by giving them something that most people take for granted, our dreams will be accomplished. This
council can make change, and we will walk with our heads held high. I write this today with a smile knowing that Marshfield students have done
something truly incredible. I hope you will embrace the opportunities that the Pangea Project has to offer.  You can make a difference, and form a
never ending friendship with those who live across the world. Please consider joining this amazing council.
