TEACHING CHESS

After the opening ceremony, the  orphans participated
in a live class event as they gathered and listen to an
Introduction to the Game of Chess by Fred Arnold, a
teacher  from the Hellgate Middle School Missouri, MT.

These orphans, from the Malimbe School, had played
checkers but had never seen a chess game. The
students were so intrigued by the game they asked
their teachers to help them learn it.

To help support this effort, Canterio International
provided an instructional chess board to the school.
Next year the students at Hellgate may have a real
competition with team Malawi!
